Why should your hotel PMS and channel manager share one database?

When the PMS and channel manager share one database, a room sold at the front desk closes on every OTA channel in the same transaction — not on the next sync cycle. This eliminates the double-booking window that plagues hotels running a PMS from one vendor and a channel manager from another.

The typical hotel tech stack treats the PMS (front desk, folios, housekeeping) and the channel manager (OTA rate sync) as separate products that exchange data through an integration. Integrations run on schedules — every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, or worst case nightly. Every minute between the desk selling a room and the channel manager closing it is a minute in which an OTA guest can book the same room.

A unified system where the room inventory, the rate calendar and the OTA connections read and write the same database rows eliminates this lag. Flocci Hotels ERP takes this approach: the front desk, the channel manager, the POS and housekeeping all operate on one shared schema, so a check-in, a walk-in sale or a cancellation is immediately visible everywhere — including the channel rate grid.
